An intelligent, passionate and controversial Indian-Bulgarian crime thriller that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012. In a remote corner of Bulgaria, a proud old woman with a sense of purpose is still fighting the effects of communist times. In one year she will turn ninety and she can't imagine living without her beloved grandson who has been sent to prison for three years following an accidental shooting accident. Granny's only solace is her daily walks with her faithful dog... One day she is about to take her daily walk when a visit from the local postal service brings unexpected news. Granny's grandson may be transferred to house arrest, meaning that he will spend his time with her after all. Soon the old lady realizes that this is no ordinary visit. The postman has brought a bundle of cash. The old lady quickly realizes that she is being blackmailed, but the new "friends" of her grandson, who are negotiating his release, are expecting some sort of a "good faith" payment... A hundred years ago, in the heart of Bulgaria an innocent young man is sentenced unjustly to death. A person who has nothing to do with the crime he has been accused of. His mother is torn between her Jewish heritage and Bulgarian law. She decides to give up everything for her son's life. With this act of love she puts herself against the whole town and their traditions. The fate of this desperate mother will change dramatically when a man appears that nobody knows or remembers. A man that comes from the future and who will fight for the life of this young Bulgarian. But what can one man do against time? The present and the past, destiny and coincidence, human life and death come together in a whirlwind of emotions and passion that change all their lives for ever.
